Prestigious Exam like Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Lacks Transparency

Prestigious Exam like Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Lacks Transparency

The "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana" is an ongoing program started by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to encourage students of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up research careers in these areas. The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research. However the awarding of the fellowship is kept closely guarded secret by the authorities here. Being a KVPY Scholar is considered to be great achievement for a student but it seems the system is not at all transparent. The students are not given papers and nor told about the marks they have scored in the examination.

This leads to lot of questions and doubts raised in the manner this prestigious scholarship is awarded to students. While other examinations like AIEEE, IIT-JEE and CAT going for more transparency by giving out the papers and giving out the score card to students but it seems that the KVPY is not willing to learn any thing.

Supreme Court and Central Information Commission (CIC) have recently asked for more transparency in the system by divulging the details to students. RTI act is also instrumental towards improving the transparency, however the authorities at KVPY are least concerned about RTI and they are not ready to give the information sought under RTI act. It has been more than six months I have been seeking the information with IISc Bangalore, organization responsible for conduction of this examination with no results.

I have been denied information on filmsy grounds such as policy matter of the governing body.
