Biggest RTI campaign of India

Citizens of kota are running one of the biggest campaign of kota. In the last three days more than 1000 RTIs have been filled by citizens of kota asking for the reasons Why KOTA is not given IIT & AIEEE EXAMINATION CENTER? The target is cloak 10000 RTI applications in the coming week.In addition to this people are also writing emails to IIT, MHRD and CBSE.

It is well known facts that thousand of students come here for the preparation of IIT JEE and AIEEE. Till year 2008 Kota was the center of these two prestigious examinations, however suddenly our policy makers decided to remove it with out any apparent reasons. This harsh and foolish decision has made the life of thousands of students miserable because of the financial burden, emotional disturbance, and concentration implications when students move from one place to another place for appearing in the exam.

Ajmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Udaipur and Jaipur were the centers where as Kota was not the centre. The numbers of aspirant from Kota are more than sum total of all other centers of Rajasthan

It seems the policy makers are more interested in fulfilling the vested interests of their political masters which leaves not time to think about the citizens. My RTI applications to MHRD and to Organizing Chairman of JEE 2010 of IIT Madras has not been answered at all. MHRD and IITs does not understand the simple mathematics , that's why they are not able to calculate financial and other losses incurred by such stupid decision. May be it is time to send MHRD officials and IIT prof back to school to learn simple arithmetic.


As a citizen of kota i would like to appeal all of you to come forward and ask the decision makers the rationale behind such decision.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur was secretly — and illegally — keeping aside a discretionary admission quota for children of its teachers and staff for over four decades, admitting dozens of students to seats they failed to secure through the IIT-Joint Entrance Examination.

Documents accessed by HT using the RTI Act show the country’s oldest IIT — started in 1951 — blocked 25 per cent of its seats in popular five-year integrated science courses (up to M.Sc level) for handpicked nominees, even as students from the rest of India had to clear the IIT-JEE for admission.

IIT wards merely needed 60 per cent marks in their Class XII Board examination and should have appeared in the IIT-JEE to be eligible for the quota seats, doled out at the institute director’s discretion. Between 2003 and 2005, those who got in through this illegal quota didn’t even need to appear for the entrance exam. The secret quota was suspended in 2005, the year the RTI Act was launched, and was abandoned in 2006 under pressure from the Joint Admission Board of all IITs, which organises entrance examination.

“This was the most shameful chapter in the history of the IITs. I tried convincing colleagues to end the quota, but failed,” said a former IIT Kharagpur director who was in charge for several years when the quota was in place.

The IIT admitted 88 students through the secret quota between 1998 and 2005, including 50 in 2003 and 2004, documents reveal. The quota was never disclosed in admission brochures — unlike all other reservations for backward communities that the IITs have.

The beneficiaries of the secret quota include the children of Madhusudan Chakraborty, now the Director of IIT Bhubaneswar and VK Tewari, the organising chairman of the IIT-JEE in 2006. Chakraborty, who has also been deputy director of IIT Kharagpur, confirmed the discretionary quota to HT but argued: “Not only my son, the sons and daughters of many others in the faculty were also admitted through this quota.”

The IIT has not disclosed exactly when the quota was started, but minutes of an August 16, 1988 board of governors meeting reveal that the quota existed even before the IIT-JEE was started in the mid-1960s.

RTI reveals IIT-JEE record of impersonation

Impersonation is nothing new to IIT-JEE. Way back in 2000, the son of a senior faculty member, who later became director of IIT-Kharagpur and even chairperson of the Joint Admission Board (JAB), was caught red-handed impersonating.

IIT Madras Chairman does not respond to RTI applications

IITs are not  transparent in a yet another case IIT Madras Chairman has not responded to hundred of RTIs filled after this year's IIT JEE fiasco. Even the RTIs filled to MHRD are transferred to IITs on which are IITs are least concerned about replying it. Hundreds of the parents who filled RTI post JEE fiasco still to receive any reply. Most of the parents have demanded a copy of the ORS

NTSE stage 2 result may get delayed

NCERT has still not finalized the answer key of NTSE stage 2 paper. NCERT has admitted in reply to RTI filled on 11 May 10 asking for the official answer key, NCERT in its reply dated 09 June 10 has admiited that answer key is still not finalized becuase of the various errors reported in the stage 2 paper.

IIT JEE still not done with the litigations

Three more writ petitions were filled recently in the Delhi High Court. One of those writ to come for hearing  on Thursday. It seems IIT  JEE has not done with the litigations. JEE declared its results on 26 May but the issue of errors in the questions paper is keep coming back to it

Next Hearing on JEE errors on 5th July

Rajasthan high court today fixed the 05 july as the next hearing date regarding the errors in the IIT-JEE'10 paper. High court has virtually killed the hopes of lacs of students who were expecting some justice from the judiciary. It seems that even judiciary is no mood to take a head on with MHRD.
 

Judiciary has played a supporting role to the wrong doings of MHRD by not taking a tough stand against the IITs. One thing is very clear govt. can get away with any wrong doing, law and judiciary is just a part of the game.

How will BITSAT justify this time loss of a student....

With respect I am to say that there was a server failure for 10 minutes during my son exam today during time slot of 12 :30pm to 03:30pm at Asia pacific institute of management, Delhi dated 24th may 2010 .Officer In charge announced that there was Server failure and due to that all computer got hang up in the hall for some time but clock was running . This 10 minutes loss has not allowed my son to attempt the paper fully as a result he was lack of few marks to get admission in one of prestigious institute BITS PILANI. This is the question of his career .I also have contacted the officers of administration and they told me that they are unable to give the further time since it is system clock .This 10 minutes loss due to server failure has not been compensated to my son 's Exam. Therefore i request you to personally look into the matter and take the required action as early as possible .I am waiting for favorable reply from your end.

JEE is not transparent

IIT JEE should disclose following things to clear the controversy surrounding around the results

1.    Officially accepted answer key by JEE for evaluating the results

2.    Marks of all the selected students

3.    Cut off for each category (General, SC, ST, OBC) in which IITs have selected students. IITs should also elaborate the cut off procedure ( total marks or marks in individual subjects) adopted by IIT

4.    IIT should also put the soft copy of the ORS on the net so that students can access the ORS and can satisfy themselves.
